1. What's a health myth you often debunk for your patients?

People ask me frequently about how to get enough protein on a plant-based diet, and are very worried about their protein intake. I talk to patients about how plant-based foods have plenty of protein for most people's needs as long as one eats enough calories, and if necessary, that there are specific higher protein plant foods that are easily available. This information is often a huge shock to patients that plants contain ANY protein! I also emphasize all the healthful components of plants: fiber, antioxidants, phytonutrients, etc. I really wish people focused more on fiber and all of its amazing health benefits such as lowering blood glucose and cholesterol, balancing our gut microbiome, promoting brain and heart health, and much more!
